STUDENT DAY OFFERS UNIQUE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW BRAUNFELS, TX – About 2,000 students will converge upon the Wurstfest grounds during the day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, as part of Student Day. “Student Day is a project of the New Braunfels High School and Canyon High School German Clubs. Students from throughout the state are invited to attend Wurstfest on that day and experience a student version of the festival,” says Wurstfest President-elect Roger Biggers. The closed-campus allows a non-alcoholic venue for students who are taking German classes to learn about German culture and about Wurstfest. Many of the Wurstfest Opas are on the grounds to answer students’ questions. In addition, entertainment is offered in the Wursthalle and the Big Tent, and concessionaires are open. Many offer festival favorite foods at reduced prices for students. The 49th annual Wurstfest begins on Friday, Oct. 30 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Wurstfest grounds in Landa Park along the Comal River. The Wurstfest Association of New Braunfels is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to promote the local economy through tourism and promote and preserve the community’s rich German heritage. Proceeds from the event benefit a wide variety of projects. Admission to the Wurstfest grounds will be free from 4 to 7 p.m. on opening night, Oct. 30. After that, admission to the festival is $8 at the gate; and children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free at all times. Group rates, advance discounts and special weekday promotions are available. For information about Wurstfest, call 830/625-9167 or 1-800-221-4369, or visit the Web site at www.wurstfest.com.
