WURSTFEST OFFERS COSTUME FUN FOR KIDS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW BRAUNFELS, TX – Children planning to attend Wurstfest on Saturday, Oct. 31, should plan to come in costume. “We embrace the idea of a family-fun event by handing out bags of candy to children at the gates on Halloween night to children in costume. Food and drink booths will offer treats to children in costume as well,” says Wurstfest Executive Director Suzanne Herbelin. Ladybugs, princesses, spiders and super heroes can enjoy the oompah bands and the family carnival at Wurstfest. They also can take part in a costume contest that is being offered as part of Kids Night Out at Kinderhalle, a combined effort of the Wurstfest Association and the City of New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department. From 6 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 31, kids ages 5-12 can be dropped off at the Kinderhalle (Landa Park Recreation Center) for a fee of $10 per child and participate in a jumping castle and arts and crafts. For information and to make reservations, call 221-4370. The 49th annual Wurstfest begins on Friday, Oct. 30 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Wurstfest grounds in Landa Park along the Comal River. The Wurstfest Association of New Braunfels is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to promote the local economy through tourism and promote and preserve the community’s rich German heritage. Proceeds from the event benefit a wide variety of projects. Admission to the Wurstfest grounds will be free from 4 to 7 p.m. on opening night, Oct. 30. After that, admission to the festival is $8 at the gate; and children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free at all times. Group rates, advance discounts and special weekday promotions are available. For information about Wurstfest, call 830/625-9167 or 1-800-221-4369, or visit the Web site at www.wurstfest.com.
